Resident n' Research

The NmRRL is dedicated to improving function of patients across the United States. Through our Resident in Research program (R n' R), you can stay at one of our beautiful assisted living facilities located adjacent to the Drake campus, and participate in research!

The program works just like staying at a hotel. Through the R n' R program, you and your family/caregivers would stay at a fully furnished apartment(s) at Bridgeway Pointe or Wellspring, which are assisted living facilities adjacent to our lab facilities at Drake Rehabilitation Hospital. You and your loved ones would have full access to all facilities and amenities, including workout and pool facilities and recreation areas. You would be charged a fee on a nightly basis for your stay, and you participate in research during the day. Unlike regular hotels, you can add on services such as help with grooming, showering, assisted nursing services, and meals.

The Facilities

We are fortunate to have access to fully furnished apartments in two, adjacent, assisted living facilities; one next door to Drake and one directly across the street from Drake. Individuals staying at Bridgeway Pointe will have access to many services and amenities including spacious apartments of various sizes, community parlors and kitchens, on-site laundry facilities, and round the clock nursing personnel. On-site chapels and local churches and synagogues provide the opportunity to attend regularly scheduled religious services. Meals can be served in gracious dining rooms with numerous menu choices, including special menus (eg., vegetarian, kosher) at each meal.

Bridgeway Pointe

Bridgeway Pointe is a lovely, new, assisted living facility community located on the campus of Drake Rehabilitation Hospital. The furnished, private apartment available to R n' R participants consists of a living room, bedroom with twin beds, kitchen with refrigerator, freezer,and microwave, and a full bath. An enclosed connector attaches Bridgeway Pointe directly to Drake, where the NmRRL is situated.

You can visit the Bridgeway Pointe web site and learn more about the facilities and amenities. Please keep in mind that the prices listed at this site are not applicable to the R n' R program, as they offer special pricing packages for our guests participating in the R n' R program.

Wellspring

Located on a former estate and winery, Wellspring is a beautiful assisted living facility surrounded by plush, historical grounds. Patients in the R n' R program have a variety of residential options at Wellspring,including staying in a fully furnished cottage or a private apartment.

All facilities offer easy access to amenities, such as a pool, exercise room, and daily,programmed activities. The furnished, private apartments available to R n' R participants usually consist of a living room, bedroom with twin beds or a double bed, kitchen with refrigerator, freezer,and microwave, and a full bath. Wellspring is located directly across the street from Drake, where the NmRRL is situated Below are additional pictures of Wellspring, taken this past summer.

A variety of packages are available. Prices range from $75 to $200 per night depending on whether you wish to have a skilled nurse assist with activities of daily living, and whether you wish to eat on the premises. Both facilities are located near popular restaurants, allowing patients to mix and match meal plans if they choose.
