About Us
-
The Neuromotor Recovery and Rehabilitation Laboratory (NmRRL) is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians from rehabilitation, neurology, engineering, and neurosurgery, to name a few.
-
The primary focus of the Neuromotor Recovery and Rehabilitation Laboratory (NmRRL) is developing approaches to restore movement and language after disabling injuries and diseases. Our studies show that many years after stroke and spinal cord injury, patients can regain meaningful motor and language skills such as walking, feeding themselves, and writing.
-
Most of our research occurs at our dedicated laboratory space, located at Drake Rehabilitation Center. However, if you are not from the tristate area, you can also travel to Cincinnati, and participate in our Resident in Research (R n' R) program, which allows individuals to stay at a local assisted living faciility located adjacent to Dra...
-
We serve as an information, care, and educational resource for individuals with neurological disabilities and their families and caregivers, as well as health care professionals.
-
We serve as a training site for rehabilitation professionals, working with medical students, physical and occupational therapists, physicians, and others to assist in development of research projects, data collection, data management, and data analysis of rehabilitation-related research projects.

The Neuromotor Recovery and Rehabilitation Laboratory (NmRRL) is a premier center for treatment of motor deficits caused by neurological disabilities. We are one of the country's leading centers for clinical trials to improve motor function after stroke. In addition to providing treatment, we also offer information and guidance to both patients and health care professionals.
Currently we are conducting 3 clinical trials funded by the National Institutes of Health, 2 Food and Drug Administration (FDA) trials of new devices, and a clinical trial of a new device funded by the American Heart Association. Check out our ongoing studies!

Funding Sources
We acquire grants, which support all aspects of our studies, including treatment, equipment, and salaries of affiliated personnel. Some of our current funding sources include the National Institutes of Health and the American Stroke Association.
Oversight
Our studies are regulated by multiple layers of oversight. Oversight is provided by the principal investigator, the Institutional Review Board (IRB) of the University of Cincinnati, the sponsor and, ultimately, the Federal Government.
